Motor Vehicle Collision – Fail to Remain
On September 29, 2020 at approximately 9:41 a.m., Aylmer Police responded to a report of a transport truck striking scaffolding attached to the Bank of Montreal, causing it to become dislodged, fall and block traffic on Talbot Street East in the Town of Aylmer. The operator of the transport truck failed to remain after the collision. Police obtained descriptions of the transport truck at the time.
UPDATE: Police were able to obtain information from witnesses and surveillance footage, and able to locate the operator, a 66 year old male from Columbia PA. The male was charged with Fail to Remain contrary to s. 200(1) (a) of the Highway Traffic Act and Proceed Contrary to Sign at Intersection contrary to s. 144(9) of the Highway Traffic Act with a return court date of December 10, 2020.
Suspicious Persons:
On September 30, 2020 at 1:36 a.m., Aylmer Police responded to a report of an unknown male who gained entry into an unlocked detached garage in the area of Pine Street East. The unknown male was frightened by the homeowner, and fled the area immediately. Police were later notified at 5:18 a.m. to a report of an unknown male wandering through backyards in the area of Talbot Street West. Police canvassed the area with negative results. Homeowners are reminded to lock their dwellings and if possible to utilize motion sensor lighting to deter their properties from being targeted. Domestic Dispute:
On September 30, 2020, Police responded to a report of a domestic dispute between a 44-year-old female and a 52-year-old male both from the Town of Aylmer. The male reported that during the dispute, it escalated to where his girlfriend had intentionally sprayed a household product into his face and eyes causing harm. As a result, the female stood charged with one count of Assault with a weapon contrary to s. 267(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada with a return court date of December 1, 2020.
Traffic Complaint:
On October 3, 2020, Police were notified of a possible impaired motor vehicle operator. A 32-year-old male from Aylmer was located with an open container of alcohol while operating his motor vehicle. The investigation further revealed the male to have cannabis readily available. The male driver was charged accordingly.
