Motor Vehicle Collision:
On 29th of November 2021, at approximately 2:50 pm., Aylmer Police investigated a motor vehicle collision that occurred on Dingle St. Aylmer ON. Police investigation revealed that a 2019 Kia being driven by a 35 year old female from Port Burwell was stopped facing east bound on Dingle St. A 2004 Honda being driven by a 40 year old female from Springfield backed out from a private driveway and struck the Kia that was stopped on the roadway. As a result, female was charged with Fail to yield from driveway. Both vehicles sustained minor damage.
Theft under charge;
On the 1st of December 2021, at 3:18 pm., Aylmer Police attended local business on John St. North Aylmer ON., for a report of theft. Investigation revealed that on 30th of November 2021, between 4:55 pm. and 5:05 pm., a male and female attended the store and placed merchandise valued at approximately $900.00 into a shopping cart. Suspects then concealed the merchandise and walked out of the store without paying for them. 31 year old female from Aylmer was identified to be involved and she was charged with; Theft under $5000.00, Possession of stolen property under $5000.00 and Trafficking in property obtained by crime. Police are continuing the investigation.
Impaired driving;
On 4th of December 2021, at approximately 2:58 am., Aylmer Police responded to a address on John St. South Aylmer ON., for a report of a suspicious vehicle at a residence. Upon arrival, officers located an Infinity with a male and a female occupant inside. Officer spoke to the male driver and detected a strong odour of alcoholic beverage on his breath. A roadside test was administered resulting in a “fail” reading. Further tests at the station resulted in readings over 80 mgs. Of alcohol in 100 ml. of blood. As a result, 46 year old male from Aylmer was charged with; operation while impaired, contrary to section 320.14(1)(a) of the criminal code and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) of the criminal code.
RIDE checks;
During the week of 30th of November and 6th of December 2021, Aylmer Police conducted 5 RIDE checks throughout Aylmer community resulting in 1721 drivers being checked for sobriety. Total of 101 roadside tests were administered resulting in 97 drivers with 0% readings and 4 drivers below warn range. Officers issued 2 Highway traffic act violations and issued 1 warning.
