Aylmer Police Media release – 29 Nov. 2021

Motor Vehicle Collision:   

On 22nd of November 2021, at approximately 6:30 pm., Aylmer Police responded to a motor vehicle and pedestrian collision on John St. South near Talbot St. Aylmer ON. Police investigation revealed that a 77 year old female from Aylmer was crossing John St. from the west side to the east side of the street. A 2009 Malibu being driven by a 21 year old female from Aylmer was North Bound on John St. The driver did not see the pedestrian crossing and struck her with the front end of the vehicle. The pedestrian sustained non-life threatening injuries to her head and right leg. She was transported to Victoria Hospital in London for treatment. Contributing factors to the collision was dark clothing being worn by the pedestrian as well as not using a crosswalk. Police investigation is on-going and anyone with information is asked to call Aylmer Police at 519-773-3146.

Theft of Motor Vehicle;

On 23rd of November 2021, at 6:32 am., Aylmer police responded to a theft of motor vehicle  report on Kyle Court Aylmer ON. Police investigation revealed that sometime between 22nd of November at 11:00 pm. and 23 November at 6:30 am., unknown persons stole a 2005 GMC Sierra pick up truck. The vehicle was locked and parked in the laneway of the residence. Failure to comply with a release order;

On 27th of November 2021, Aylmer Police responded to a Melanie Dr. address Aylmer ON., for a report of a male breaching his release conditions. Police located the male inside the residence in contravention of his release not to attend that address. As a result, he was arrested and charged with; Failure to comply with release order.

 

Drive over 80 mgs.

On 28th of November 2021, at 02:58 am., Aylmer Police responded to a verbal altercation at a business off Talbot St. West Aylmer ON. Police spoke to a male party who was involved in the altercation. Just prior to the verbal altercation, the male was observed operating a 2011 Mazda. Officer detected an odour of alcoholic beverage on his breath and as a result, a roadside demand was given resulting in a “fail” reading. Further tests at the station resulted in readings over twice the legal limit. As a result, 25 year old male from Aylmer was charged with; Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

RIDE checks;

During the week of 22nd of November and 29th of November 2021, Aylmer Police conducted 5 RIDE checks throughout Aylmer community resulting in 1339 drivers being checked for sobriety. Officers issued 14 Highway Traffic Act Warnings and administered 1 roadside test resulting in a pass.
