Attempt Fraud:  

On 29^th of January 2021, Aylmer Police responded to a attempt fraud call at one of the local stores on Talbot St. West Aylmer ON. A 63-year-old male from Aylmer attended the local store and requested to purchase $600.00 worth of video game gift cards. Quick thinking store employee suspected fraud and contacted police to report the incident. Police investigation revealed that two unknown individuals contacted the male via Facebook Messenger and convinced him to purchase the cards. Actions of the store employee prevented the male from being de-frauded.

 

Internet Fraud:

On 28^th of January 2021 at approximately 9:19 am., Aylmer Police investigated internet fraud involving google play cards. Investigation revealed that on 25^th of January 2021, a 74-year-old male from Aylmer was contacted by an individual purporting to be a priest asking for help with google play cards for a birthday gift for a friend. Complainant felt the request was legitimate and purchased $300.00 worth of google cards and sent them as per request. He then received a second request for additional $300.00. As a result, victim has been defrauded of $600.00.

Theft of a trailer:

On 31^st of January 2021, at approximately 10:13 am. Aylmer Police responded to a theft of a trailer report that occurred at 76 Spruce St. Aylmer ON. Police investigation revealed that sometime between 29 January 2021 8:30 pm., and 31 January 2021 8:00 am., unknown persons attended the business and stole 2017 TRL white trailer that was loaded with scrap metal. Culprits used a Unknown tractor-trailer to steal the trailer. Theft and recovery of a semi-tractor

On 01 February 2021, at approximately 2:46 am., Aylmer Police responded to a fully engulfed in flames 1999 Peterbilt Semi-tractor off Elm St. Aylmer ON. Police investigation revealed that sometime overnight the truck was stolen along with the Semi trailer loaded with GM parts. The trailer had yellow lettering “Ottaway Express” on both sides. The trailer with the parts is still outstanding. Culprits returned with the truck, parked it at the end of Elm St. and set it on fire. The truck is valued at $70,000.
