New Dispatch Service

On May 13th 2013 the Aylmer Police Services Board signed a contract with the Owen Sound Police Service to take over dispatching of the Aylmer Police. This change is intended to improve the cost effectiveness of the Aylmer Police service delivery to the community. Currently police dispatch is a hybrid model of internal staff 830am-430pm  during the weekdays and and a contracted after-hours service by St.Thomas Police. Effective June 25th 2013 at 9am  the seamless delivery will be 24-7 by Owen Sound Police. The Aylmer Police Station will still operate as usual with walk in business and 24-7 officer response. The contact information will also remain the same with the addition of an "Admin / Business" number should you need to speak to staff about an non-urgent matter.

CONSUMER RIGHTS - DOOR TO DOOR SALES

Aylmer residents are encouraged to learn their consumer rights about door-to-door sales before calling the police. A recent increase in Water Heater Rentals sales people in Aylmer have caused some concern. They are a generally from  legitimate companies using "questionable"  tactics to get your business. If you have a current contract with a vendor it is recommended you contact them FIRST before signing anything with a second vendor. ROAD SAFETY WEEK May 13-20, 2013

The second week in May marks the Canadian Association of Chief's of Police annual Road Safety Week. The Aylmer Police will be conducting focused enforcement during this time. The campaign is targeting the "Big 4" killers on our roads:

  1. Impaired Driving
  2. Failure to wear seatbelts
  3. Aggressive Driving
  4. Distracted Driving

The Aylmer Police are seeking to identify a male and female  last seen at the Mac's Convenience Store on April 6th 2013 between 445-500pm.  They are persons of interest in a theft and we need to contact them.  Please call us or Crime Stoppers. 

Computer Cleanup Scam

Computer owners are cautioned not to accept unsolicited telephone or e-mail offers to "clean-up" their computers. Residents in Aylmer have reported that a telemarketer had called them and offered to do an assessment and cleanup of their computer if they merely granted them "temporary" access on line. Police caution that ANY computer access to an untrusted party can result in personal data loss, corruption, or infection. The same caution extends to unsolicited pop-ups that claim to have found issues on your computer and then require you to pay for them to clean it up. When you pay with your credit card the program appears to work, however, your credit info is what they stole, not your data. The Canadian Govermenet offers an online Scam website that can enlighten you.
